Ashleigh received recognition in the August SOARING magazine for attaining her Silver altitude and Silver duration awards.

Stan will soon have his name posted, too. Congrats!

Taylor is flying in the US Club Class Nationals in Yoder, Kansas (Aug 2 - 14). So far, there have been no contest flights due to poor weather.

Shane has his C-172 up there and is towing. Other members are planning to go up next week to crew for Taylor and perform contest support.

<repeat> HSC is registered to place a float in the Hamilton Dove Fest parade on Saturday September 5th at 10 AM.

Volunteers and riders will need to arrive early on Saturday morning to decorate the Oatsmobile. The cart signage from last year has been located.

The riders will be throwing small foam glider kits to the crowd like last year.

Also, Shane has released an update to the iPhone app. Go to the app store and search on "HSC Flightline', download and install.

Equipment Updates

The white 2-33 is not quite ready to fly...needs annual squawks addressed. The CallAir tow plane is fully operational. Thanks, Tim and Landon.

The red 2-33's electrical wiring issue has been repaired.

The green 1-26’s wheel brake installation and control cable connections remain the primary tasks for this bird.

Gary S. mounted the plexiglass canopy to the frame. Looks great! Thanks, Gary.

Instructors

Vic confirmed...he will be available Sunday only

No instructors will be available on Saturday. No other instructors are currently available.

Treasurer

Sheryl is available to assist you with questions and taking care of HSC business. Text Sheryl at (512) 964-9707.

Reminders

When you are on the runway...keep the glider radio on or have a hand-held radio on so you can monitor and advise the traffic in the pattern that you are on the runway.

If an equipment issue develops, push the glider off the active, so other pilots can use the runway.

Operations plan

Tows are available both Saturday and Sunday. However, instruction will be available ONLY on Sunday.

South flow both days.

About the Club

The Hamilton Soaring Club took to the skies in 2016 at the local airport in Hamilton, TX. Since then, we have welcomed more members, added aircraft, and refined our operations.

Our club is home to glider pilots with amazing stories to share, aspiring pilots in training, and private pilots eager to experience the thrill of flying engine-less.

Why Gliding?

Gliding is an exhilarating way to learn the basics of flight, relying on thermals and piloting skill to soar through the skies. We primarily use aero-tow and occasionally use auto tow.

If you have never experienced gliding before, join us for a discovery flight and bring friends along for a memorable day at the airport.

In Loving Memory of Jim Callaway

Jim Callaway was truly the heartbeat of our club. His passion for soaring was unmatched, and he generously shared his knowledge with all of us. As a founding member, he played a pivotal role in shaping the Hamilton Soaring Club.
